Happy 70th!

Today, we celebrate Mama's 70 years. In lieu of a party, she wants to donate to charity but because we believe she deserves a treat, we are going on an overnight stay at Alegre beach resort.

Happy, happy 70th birthday, Ma! Please know how much we love you (despite our regular cat fights) and how grateful we are for all the little and big things you have done and still do to make us feel loved and special. There is no way to ever repay you but I thank God everyday for the gift of YOU.

I'll never cease to be amazed at how patient you are with me. I would always wonder if I will be as cool as you are when I'll be your age. And I will forever be amazed and thankful for the love and care you give Marti and Zach. I am one lucky daughter. I remember I almost NEVER had sleepless nights from the day they were born because you stayed awake (almost 24/7) just so I can get enough sleep. Which makes me think, how can I be so mean to you at times! I am sorry, Ma and I want you to know (again) that I really, truly love you.

I pray that the Lord will continue to bless you with good health, genuine happiness that only comes from Him, more happy moments with Marti and Zach, more pairs of Fitflops, and more birthdays.

it's final!

i really went to jollibee-mango this morning after driving Marti to school. i inquired about their party packages. i was glad to find out that you can actually create your own food combination as long as total bill is at least 4K. another thing i'm happy about is they don't charge a corkage fee if you bring your own birthday cake, you just need to sign a waiver that it's not from them then you also have the option to not buy name tags, guest book or party balloons from them.

i have already made a guest list and computed how much i need to save up for (how many fraps, warm brownie cups and mango sushis i shouldn't have between today and september 26). when we got home from school, i told Marti that i inquired from Jollibee for a possible birthday party there. to my surprise and disappointment (haha), she said " i don't want to have a Jollibee party, Ma. i want a party in school with Jollibee food and Dora loot bags." end of story. i will just save up for Zach's 3rd in april 2010. :)

random thoughts on a Sunday

glad it's one of those Sundays when i get to hear mass. thank God! i didn't give in to temptation of just staying home, laze around and make myself fatter. after all, there's just too many things to thank God for, one of which is my sister's safe travel back to Qatar.

i'm thinking of a lot of things right this very moment.

* i like my job but the split rest days we've been having since the past weeks are making me tired and with the passing score for major metrics getting harder, i'm thinking of quitting. or i should wait 'til i get terminated for not passing the monthly scorecard. haha.

* i can't understand why some people can't understand that a simple text or return call is all i need when i've been waiting and been texting and calling them more than 5 times. and they tell me i'm impatient and bratty. and that i should just have taken a taxi than wait for them. and this has happened several times already and they just tell you "what did you lose when i didn't answer your call or text? " please, teach me how to be patient in other ways. nag cellphone pa ka!

* i'm starting to get excited planning for Marti's 4th birthday. now that she's a bit big enough not to be afraid of mascots, she wants a jollibee birthday party. i promised her that she can have it. last month, the hub suggested that she will just have the party in school with Jollibee food minus the mascot. being the good girl that she is, she agreed. i guess what matters to them is the thought that they will have a party. although i'm fine with that, i'm also thinking that i still want to stick to the original plan of having it at a Jollibee store because 1) Jollibee will be there and Marti and Zach and most kids love Jollibee, 2) i won't be able to invite my relatives and friends and their kids if it's going to be in school and 3) i want a party with games and prizes and pabitins and piñatas which i can't do in school. i'm sure this will be an issue with the hub because to be practical about it, holding it in school (with only two teachers and 11 classmates) really means lesser expense. we'll see, we'll see. but i'll start saving up for it already and will inquire from Jollibee tomorrow. and will buy some party stuff from SM on their mall-wide 3-day sale that will start this Friday. haha.

* it's interesting to read Marti's N2 lessons. i am learning. i am just surprised and amazed that what i learned in my public elementary school, Marti's already learning them now at the nursery level. sometimes i would think it may be too much for her but then again, all private pre-schools all have the same lessons now. but i'm still bothered why at N2, there is already addition in their Math subject.

* i hate the thought (or fact) that i no longer have strong self-discipline. the more i think about losing weight and getting healthy and fit, the bigger i get everyday. maybe i should stop thinking and just do it.

re-thinking

last month was not a good month for me at work. i was struggling in 1 of the most major and important metrics our performance is based on. the month ended with a failing mark. it's the second time since june and if i do not pass this month and the next, it's bye bye CVG for me.

i also did not make any progress in my journey to "fab-ness". i was absent from the gym most of the time last month and i gave in to all my high-calorie cravings and devoured rice as if everyday was my last day on earth.

before the first day of this month came, i looked back and did some re-thinking of how i could improve my performance in those two areas. i came up with a few plans of action and i am hoping they are ood enough to make me better this month and the coming months.
