" if you have one true friend, you have more than your share..." - Thomas Fuller
We all have a handful of acquaintances--those people with whom we work or see at the store and casually say hello to and move on.
But a friend is someone you confide in, bring over for an afternoon cup of coffee, invite to your wedding, or cry with when a loved one passes away. You just feel a sense of safety with a friend. Don't wait until a rainy day to express how much a good friend means to you. Often we are unaware of how much we mean to others until they speak up, and likewise we never know how much another person might truly need to hear such affirmations. An approving, cheerful word of encouragement can thrill a heart. Be sure to always say kind words before you part, show sympathy during hard times and affection during wonderful ones.
Life would not be the same without positive friendships. Express your gratitude to someone today who has made a difference in your world!

Remembering Daddy
today would have been Daddy's 71st birthday.
we still miss him so much. and we continue to pray for his eternal rest. we celebrated his special day quietly but fondly and lovingly. we, Mama and the Cruzes had lunch at Roma Mia and coffee at Seattle's Best. when we got home after the 6:00 PM mass, Marti suggested that we light some sparklers and we did! we pointed them to the sky and shouted Happy Birthday, Lo! We love you.

2011 Goals
i am writing here my goals for this year in the hope that by doing so, it will be easier for me to make them come true.haha.
1) read at least two books each month. i can no longer remember what stopped me from reading but i know that it's about time i went back to it. when i sorted and rearranged all my books today, i realized i have over 25 unread books!
2) learn to cook. yes, it's about time i knew how and our househelp is the best teacher.
3) stop being mean to Mama. i'd really rot in hell because i'm always impatient and grouchy with mama! i know i love her and i care for her but it's been a while since i've been such a meanie. while it's not yet too late, i should change the way i treat her for it's not only one of the commandments, she also really deserves to be loved and treated with respect and kindness.
4) blog. make that, blog more. i know i don't have to write 'deeply', thinking aloud is enough and as much as possible, i should write about positive things or things that will make the readers smile and learn something.
5) spend more time with the hub and kids. the kids specially. i should be a 100% mom to them and only do other activities like FB or Twitter while they're in school or asleep.
6) eat less, move more. i know, i know i have been forever trying to lose weight and get back in shape! but give me another nth chance to do it right this time.
7) spend time outdoors. i should be like my kids who enjoy being outside, playing or just moving around than being glued to the TV or the computer.
8) see/visit a new place. i always told the hub that if time and funds permit, we should go to a place we've never been to. it has always been Bantayan Island or Surigao for us.
9) find a job. after more than a year of being a plain housewife, i realized that i should have my own income to keep me sane and it's really no longer practical for a family of four (with 2 kids in school) to have just one breadwinner. unless, i guess, if the breadwinner really earns THAT much.
10) sleep at least 7 hours everyday. it's good for my skin and total well-being. :)
11) take at least one photo each day. my sister downloaded the project365 iphone app and i find it fun to somehow document each day through photos.
12) upload and post photos on time. my family and some friends get bummed when i post our photos at least 6 months after they were taken. i know the feeling, bahaw na kaayo. LOL.

13) let go. of old stuff that i've been keeping for more than a decade now. of stuff we don't really need anymore. of toxic people. of un-real friends. of negative thoughts and feelings.
